To All Districts, Pastors, Leaders, and Members of the International Assemblies of God South Africa

Greetings in the Mighty Name of Our Lord Jesus Christ!

As we stand at the beginnning of 2026, I am reminded of the great task that the Lord has placed before us as a Fellowship. We are not a people who drift aimlessly; we are a people with a Policy, a people with a Mission, and a people moving towards a Vision. Read full message

Welcome to the Family of Faith

Our Core Beliefs: The Foundation of Our Faith

Our theology is built upon the foundational truth of the Bible as the inspired and infallible Word of God. We hold to the following fundamental truths that define who we are:

Section 1: The Scriptures Inspired

The Scriptures, both the Old and New Testaments, are verbally inspired of God, and are the revelation of God to man, the infallible, authoritative rule of faith and conduct (2 Timothy 3:15-17; 1 Thessalonians 2:13; 2 Peter 1:21).

Our Rich History: A Legacy of Pentecostal Fire

The story of the International Assemblies of God in South Africa is a testament to God’s faithfulness.

A New Era: Post-apartheid, the IAGSA has actively worked to reflect the beautiful diversity of the South African nation within its churches, promoting reconciliation and unity in the body of Christ. Today, we are a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic fellowship with a shared vision for impacting our nation.

Early Beginnings: The Pentecostal movement reached South African shores in the early 20th century, fueled by the outpouring of the Holy Spirit at Azusa Street and other revivals across the globe. Missionaries and evangelists began sharing the message of salvation and the Pentecostal experience, leading to the establishment of early Pentecostal congregations.

Formation and Growth: Over the decades, these congregations grew and began to formally fellowship together. The International Assemblies of God South Africa was officially constituted to provide a structure for cooperation, accountability, and mutual support among these churches, while preserving the vibrant, Spirit-led autonomy of the local church.

Our Leadership & Structure

The International Assemblies of God South Africa operates under a governance structure that combines strong national leadership with the autonomy of the local church.

  • National Executive Council: Our fellowship is led by an elected Executive Presbytery, including our General President, Assistant General President, General Secretary, Asistance General Secretary and General Treasurer. This team provides spiritual oversight, direction, and administrative leadership for the entire Church.
  • Districts & Sections: For more localized support and fellowship, churches are grouped into geographical districts and sections, each with its own leadership team to cater to regional needs.
  • Local Churches: The heart of our fellowship is the local church. Each member church is self-governing but chooses to partner with the IAGSA for apostolic covering, fellowship, and the collective advancement of the Gospel.
